I had a phone chat with the hiring team first. They gave me some good advice, like checking out stores from all the divisions I was applying for. Then, I came in for a long interview on a Friday, meeting with 8 people. It lasted from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, and I was pretty drained by the end. After that, the HR recruiter called and offered me the job. But when I heard the salary, they straight-up lied to get me to accept, even though I had already turned it down.

I applied for an assistant buyer role at CATO's corporate office after seeing a posting online. I sent my resume and got an email the next day to set up a phone interview, which I did the day after. A few days later, they emailed again to schedule an in-person interview, which was a week after that. This in-person interview included an online personality test and meeting four different people. I felt confident after the interview and was told I'd hear back, but I never did. They ignored all my follow-up emails, which I thought was really unprofessional and made the whole extensive interview process feel like a waste of my time.

The interview process was absolutely ridiculous. I spent a minimum of three hours on this, which was for an entry-level and underpaid role. To make matters worse, after all that time, and completing a 100-question psychological assessment, they didn't even send a courtesy email to inform me of their decision. It was a complete waste of my time.
