First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Catholic Health.
Registered Nurse
So I had an interview with 3 other nurse managers, and one of them was actually late so they missed most of my answers. The questions were pretty standard, like 'tell me about yourself' and 'how do you handle conflict,' stuff like that. It was about 35 minutes long and took place in a random side room, so people were walking by. It wasn't super formal, but it was a good experience overall.
- Have you ever had a job in the service industry or dealt with difficult customers?
- What makes you a better candidate than the others applying?
- Can you introduce yourself?
Practice Support Associate
I first chatted with a recruiter who asked about my background and then told me about the job. After that, they were going to speak with the hiring manager. The hiring manager called me and set up an in-person interview for the following week. When I got to the office for the interview, I met with two hiring managers who asked me general interview questions and described how the role and office environment work.
- Can you describe how you function within a team environment?
- What past experiences do you possess that align with the requirements of this position?
- What is your availability?
Manager
The whole process was long and a pain. The online application wasn't easy to use and they asked for references right away. The chat with my manager and team was fast, but then my application just sat there for weeks while they got references. One of my references mentioned that HR asked some strange questions.
- How does your past experience relate to this role?
Nursing Assistant
I applied on the company's website at the beginning of the month. About two weeks later, a recruiter contacted me to set up a phone interview. This interview focused on behavioral questions, like when I had to advocate for a patient or how I handled a conflict. If you pass this stage, they schedule an in-person interview with the hiring manager. The whole process felt quite lengthy, taking at least a month from applying to the phone screen and then the in-person interview, not even including hiring and orientation. I was feeling a bit discouraged because there were some computer issues with the hiring manager's online scheduling, which led HR to book my interview for a day the hiring manager was off. So, when I showed up for my in-person interview, I didn't actually meet with the person I was supposed to. Despite this hiccup, I felt the interview went really well, and I thought it was a great experience. However, I never heard back and was ghosted. I followed up twice, but received no response or communication. It was really disappointing. When I found out the hiring manager wasn't working that day, I had a sinking feeling it might hurt my chances. But it could have been anything, maybe they hired someone else or found a better candidate. The only definite sign you got the job is an offer, so any 'good signs' during the interview are just subjective. My advice is to keep applying and job hunting even while you're in the middle of interviews. Overall, besides the ghosting, it felt like a positive experience, and I liked the people I spoke with. I'm sure it would have been a great place to work, but it just wasn't meant to be for me.
- Can you start by telling me about yourself?
- Could you share an instance where you had to advocate for a patient?
- Tell me about a time you exceeded expectations or went the extra mile.
