First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Catholic Guardian Services.
Case Manager
They called me for an interview and the first question they asked was if I spoke Spanish, to which I replied no. About 26 minutes into the interview, the interviewer mentioned that they were hiring Spanish-speaking case managers for their youth department, but still decided to ask all the other questions. The second interviewer looked eager to end the long interview, and I agreed because I realized they weren't going to move forward with my application, so why waste my time? They call you for an interview and then come up with a flimsy excuse when they finally see you.
- Do you speak Spanish?
- Can you describe a difficult situation you faced and how you managed to get through it?
Clinician
The interview itself went great, and I think the clinician supervisor was really nice. However, the overall hiring process was poorly managed. I had an interview on May 17th, and they didn't contact me again until June 4th. At that point, they asked for my social security card, IDs, references (which they contacted to verify my information), and proof of my education. I also agreed to a background check and other checks. It's now almost August, and I haven't heard back from them. I'm assuming they've moved on to other candidates, which is fine, but it's frustrating that they requested very sensitive personal information and didn't bother to inform me of their decision. This really shows a lack of professionalism and respect from the company. I know for a fact that my background check and references were fine, as I have no legal issues and my references are reliable people who know my work well.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment with this organization?
Human Resources Manager
I sent in my resume and then got contacted for an interview. I spoke with the Assistant Executive HR Director and sent a thank you note within 2 days. When I didn't hear back, I emailed to ask about the search status. No response. Two weeks later, I emailed again asking if I was still being considered. Still no response. After I sent an email about the unprofessionalism, I got a response saying a rejection letter was mailed, which I haven't received. The agency is good and has great benefits, but their infrastructure is clearly lacking.
- Could you list your strongest HR areas and rate them from 1 to 10?
Social Worker
The hiring process involved meeting with the supervisor and other case workers. HR then contacted the candidate with an offer. The candidate started working right away. A full background check and fingerprinting were required. The candidate was hired. Referrals from current employees are a plus, and the agency offers incentives for recommendations.
