Even though they called me less than 24 hours before my interview, they were super prepared. They sent me a bunch of stuff beforehand, like their mission, vision, and values, a detailed job description, an FAQ, and then 30 minutes before the interview, they sent the questions. The panel took turns asking questions and then I got to ask mine, and it all took about 40 minutes.

I had a first phone interview, which went okay. After that, I was invited for a panel interview with five members of the development team. The questions mostly covered development, fundraising, and standard interview topics. However, one question specifically asked about Catholic morals regarding abortion and birth control, which was unexpected as I'm not Catholic. I did share my opinion during the interview, and one interviewer seemed surprised. I eventually mentioned I wasn't Catholic. I suspect this might have affected my chances. It would have been helpful to know about this requirement beforehand, either on the application or website, as their mission and values don't mention it. Strangely, despite this, I was still required to complete a data entry test and a writing test, even though it seemed they were looking for someone who aligned with their Catholic principles.

Had a quick phone screen first. Then, when I got there for the interview, they gave me a folder with info about the company and all the questions they were gonna ask. That was cool, so I knew what to expect. It was a panel interview. They asked basic stuff about the organization, my database skills, other computer stuff, and how I work in a team. There was also a kind of vague question about how I connect with the company's values and mission, but nothing religious. The interviewers were on time and nice.

Technical Behavioral

The whole process took about 2 weeks. The first interview was with three people from the department and lasted around an hour. Then, there was a second, shorter interview (about 30 minutes) with a program manager and the VP of the department, which was more casual and focused on how I fit with the VP's future vision for the department.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Were there technical questions about real estate development?
  • Was there a section on mission fit with the organization?
  • Did you discuss the focus on equity?
