First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Catawba Valley Health System.
Administrative
The interview process was pretty quick and straightforward. I had one main interview with both the supervisor and the division supervisor. They asked pretty standard interview questions. I heard back about a week later. The whole hiring thing moved fast.
- Can you describe your past work experience?
- What's your approach to managing challenging patient interactions?
Buyer
The interview process went okay, although there were a couple of questions I hadn't encountered in previous roles, but I think I managed them alright. Ultimately, I didn't receive an offer, and honestly, I'm kind of relieved. The reason is that people in Purchasing are supposedly "saving lives," and I was told I wasn't capable of making those kinds of decisions, which I found to be untrue. I was also told I wasn't capable of making judgment calls, which again, I feel is unfair. If I had known that the role would involve making judgment calls that could impact lives, I would have ended the interview right then and there.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to deal with blame?
Registered Nurse
The interview was very well organized and professional, with no trick questions or unnecessary stress. It was one of the best and simplest interviews I've had. Because of COVID, I checked in and the interviewer met me at the front, then took me to the floor for the interview.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Medical Screener
I had two phone interviews, then a face-to-face and walk-around interview. It was a great and professional experience. It felt more like a getting-to-know-you chat than a typical interview meant to filter people out.
- What are your expectations for this role?
