The application started with a typing test. They were cagey about salary, not disclosing it until the second interview, and then denied they ever promised to find out. The second interview got rescheduled twice. They reached out to my contacts for references without checking with me first. In the second interview, they asked for my salary expectations in front of the person who would be my colleague, without any explanation. The whole thing felt unprofessional and was a major red flag.

The interview process was quick. I first had a phone call with the person currently in the IT Team Lead role, which went well and felt promising. The second round involved a video interview with the IT lead from Texas, and staff from PHX and PA. Everyone was really nice and asked standard IT interview questions. I heard back the same day as Round 2 and was told the team liked my qualifications, but they decided to go with someone who had more experience. I've got over 20 years in IT, so that was interesting, but it's their decision. It seemed like a good group to work with.

It was a really straightforward three-step process. First, I had a phone chat with the head of the Internal Sales department. Then, I went in person to meet with the Internal Sales lead and the department head. The last interview was with the National Sales Manager. Everyone I met was super nice, way better than most interviews I've done. The vibe and people were great from the start to the end.

There were four rounds: recruiter, hiring manager, direct team, and a wider team interview. The first two were over the phone, and the last two were in person. For the direct team interview, only one person was physically present, while the others joined remotely. Two interviewers didn't have their cameras on, which I suspect was a VP based on others' reactions. This felt unprofessional since I took time off work and traveled there, and they wouldn't even turn on their cameras for eye contact. They ended up pulling the job and reposting it as two separate positions, and the one I applied for was also a repost. Looking back, I'm glad I didn't proceed because the job requirements didn't match what they actually needed, and it would have been a lateral move in pay (even with a full bonus) but with much more responsibility and a greater time commitment.
