Castalia General Intern Interview Questions
& Process

First, there was an HR interview, followed by two online tests (one behavioral and one economics). The tests were GRE-style. The HR interview covered basic qualifications and my motivation for wanting to join the company. The final stage was a panel interview.

The interview process was really something. Even though I and most of the Castalia office are based in Washington DC, I was interviewed by someone in Australia. This meant I had to do interviews late at night because they had to be during Australian business hours. It's crazy because most of the staff and I are in Washington. The whole thing dragged on for weeks. They made me take an economics test and said it had to be done ASAP to move on. I was dealing with a major family crisis, but they weren't flexible about me taking a 3-hour econ test. After I submitted it, the Australian HR person went silent for weeks. I had to reach out to find out I could move to the next stage. The HR person was rude and condescending throughout. The urgency for my responses and tests was annoying because Castalia's HR person would take weeks to reply, and they just didn't seem that interested in having interns. I pulled out, took an internship elsewhere that was great, and told my grad school about the bad experience with Castalia.

I interviewed for an internship in DC. The whole thing took about 3 weeks. There were 3 interviews in total: two were with senior management, and one was with the CEO. They focused on technical questions and weren't really into behavioral stuff. One interview was about finance, and the other two covered micro-economics.
