First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cass Information Systems.
Data Entry Clerk
I had a phone call, it was pretty basic. They asked about my work experience and if I had a suitable place at home to work. They told me I had to pass a data entry test, either at home or in the office. I tried the at-home test and didn't pass. Then I went to the office to try it there, and I failed again.

Invoice Payment Specialist
The hiring process started with a test that had two parts: a number/alphanumeric test and a number patterns test. Passing required 9,000 keystrokes per hour (36 WPM) with 98% accuracy, matching keystrokes precisely. After failing the first attempt (8,500 KPH), I was given a second chance and passed. Next, I scheduled an interview with the supervisor, which went well and clarified the role's responsibilities. Following the interview, I submitted five references who completed questionnaires, and a background check was initiated. I received a job offer a week later. The first 90 days involve onsite training with specific tests and modules. Cass Information Systems provides a supportive environment during this training, allowing casual dress (jeans and a presentable shirt). Post-training, there's an option for flexible work-from-home.
- Can you share your experience with your previous employer?
- In what ways would past employers characterize you?
- Do you consider yourself analytical?
Junior Developer
The interview started with a one hour Computer Programmer Aptitude Battery Test that lasted about an hour. It's broken into two sections: Flowcharting (30 min) and math (20 min). I didn't do well on the test because I was nervous and there was a lot of noise. I then interviewed with HR who asked basic questions and was very nice. I then interviewed with the two team leads who were also nice and didn't ask behavioral questions. Unfortunately my test scores kept me from getting an offer. Advice: If you get past the test then the interview will be a breeze. If you know you did horrible on the test like myself, you may be better off telling the technical interviewers.
- Could you tell me what you know about Cass?
Product Technology Manager
The interview process had three rounds. First I talked to the CIO, which seemed ok. Then I talked to a VP, which felt like a waste of time. Then I talked to the team I would work with, which went great. After that, there was a quick technical chat that didn't really show off technical skills. They told me they didn't think I had much new development experience, even though I have 10 years in software development and 2 years as a manager. Then I had to do a technical assessment in four areas (C#, ASP.NET Core 6, Blazor, and SQL), doing really well on three. After that, they had me take 5-6 behavioral and leadership style assessments. It took days and hours for them to tell me I scored low on the leadership assessment and wasn't a good leader. The recruiter and I figured out some people there wanted me but others didn't, so they used this last test as an excuse. It was the most excessive and wasteful interview process I've ever gone through, and I've interviewed at Amazon. Cass Information Systems isn't Amazon and shouldn't have such rigorous and pointless interviews. Very disappointing and disrespectful.
