First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cascadia Health.
Residential Counselor
The whole process took about three months, and having a personal reference was helpful. The recruiter did a good job matching my skills to the role. I got a hiring bonus. There were four interviews in total. Coworkers with more experience had fewer interviews. It's a plus if you fit well with your cohort. The final interview might give you advanced questions beforehand.
- How do you handle a crisis situation?
Human Resources Manager
First, there was a quick phone screen with the recruiter for about 10-15 minutes to go over basic skills, experience, and expectations. Then, I had an in-person interview with two people where about half the questions were theoretical or philosophical, like asking about the importance of consistency, and there was a lot of focus on diversity in the workplace. The next interview was also in-person with two interviewers. Many questions were similar to the first set, but they also included several case scenarios.
- Could you describe your typical work style and how you approach prioritizing tasks when faced with multiple conflicting projects?
- How do you go about prioritizing projects when they conflict with each other?
- What are your thoughts on why consistency is important?
Case Manager
I went through two interviews: one with management and another with the team. It's a pretty standard process for this field, so being prepared is key. They really focus on trauma-informed care and cultural competence, so make sure you highlight that. After the second interview, they sent over an offer. There wasn't a drug test, but I did need to get fingerprinted for a background check, and they verified I have a valid driver's license and car insurance.
- How would you handle a situation where a client becomes agitated and refuses to speak with you?
- What steps would you take if a client became agitated and unwilling to communicate?
- Describe your approach when a client is agitated and resistant to talking.
Residential Counselor
The interview process involved two rounds. The interview itself went well. Typically, the hiring manager is the one who interviews you. However, they have no say in whether you're hired or your pay rate, even if they think you're a great fit. HR makes all the decisions and might not even check your references. If a job offer is made, it's over the phone with no room for negotiation. They'll tell you not to worry because you'll get a performance review in a year, but don't assume that means a pay raise.
- Can you discuss diversity, other cultures, and their importance in a healthcare setting?
