The interview process was pretty simple and fast. Everyone was really nice. Instead of the usual phone screens you see a lot now, I had an in-person interview first. I met with the Sales Manager initially and then the VP.

An external recruiter who used a company email handled the initial contact. To apply, candidates had to visit the recruiter's website, upload their resume, complete a questionnaire, and solve some puzzle questions. The recruiter called, and we spoke twice, each conversation lasting about 20 minutes. Salary expectations were discussed by the recruiter very early in our first chat. After I mentioned a salary figure, the recruiter indicated that my expectation was at the higher end of what they could offer.

The process was really good. They have a solid understanding of the company and its future objectives. The follow-up communication was also great.

First, there was a 25-minute phone screen with the Assistant Branch Manager. Then, I had a 1-hour in-person interview at their corporate office in Sausalito, CA, with the Assistant Branch Manager and the VP of Sales. I arrived 5 minutes early, but they were 15 minutes late and didn't apologize. It was also at their location, which felt odd. They asked very few questions, and I ended up asking most of them. They also mentioned expecting me to commute from the East Bay to Sausalito for the first 60+ days for training. Given their indifference during the interview, which I felt was due to my age (I'm in my early 60s), and the ridiculous commute requirement, I decided it wasn't a good fit. I believe they had already made up their minds about me after seeing me, and I didn't follow up on purpose because I suspected age bias.
