Data Scientist
It began with a call from a recruiter who wanted to chat about the job and my background. Then, I had a take-home assignment to do. I turned it in and later talked it over with one of the people interviewing me. After that, I did a bunch of interviews, and most of them were about product case studies and hypothetical situations. I also met with the hiring manager two times. One time it was to talk about my experience and what I was interested in, and the other time was part of the interviews. I can't remember which came first. Overall, it felt like a planned process, but a lot of the questions were like product case questions.
- How would you approach identifying outliers in a dataset
Data Scientist
The interview process kicked off with a nice and friendly chat with the recruiter who told me about the role and asked about my data experience and the tech stack I use. Then, I had an interview with the hiring manager, which was a bit different. It felt like they were rushing to finish the meeting and just went through a list of questions quickly. I got a rejection email a few days after that. The process was laid out as: a 30-min chat with the hiring manager about my projects and career goals, a 30-min live SQL coding session, a Python take-home assignment, and a virtual panel for product case studies and technical discussions.
- What sparked your interest in this role?
- Tell me about your key data science skills and expertise.
- Can you give a breakdown of how you spend your time day-to-day?
Data Scientist
The interview process started with a recruiter screen, followed by a pretty straightforward take-home assignment. There were a few more rounds after that. I actually really liked how they handled recruitment. It did take a bit of time to get a decision after submitting the take-home, but the recruiter was great about keeping me informed and always let me know what was going on. They also gave me feedback on the whole process and on the take-home specifically, which was a nice touch. In the end, they decided they needed someone with more experience in their specific industry, but it was still a positive interview experience overall.
