The interview process was pretty long, it had 4 steps total and I interviewed with 6 different people individually. The third step was a panel interview, which was an hour and a half long, moving from one call to the next. I made it to the final interview with the care ops director but unfortunately didn't get the job in the end.

the role seemed perfect for my background and qualifications - in fact, I was overqualified for many of the requirements. I invested countless hours preparing for each interview and envisioning how I could contribute to the team. However, what followed was weeks of uncertainty and spotty communication that left me questioning a lot about the organization's hiring practices. my overall experience with the hiring process was disgusting. After three rounds of interviews and dedicating all of January to pursuing the Patient Care Lead role, I'm disappointed with how things concluded. As an overqualified candidate, the lack of consistent communication and clear timelines was frustrating. What concerns me more, however, is the noticeable lack of diversity in the leadership team. As a Black woman, I found myself searching LinkedIn for someone who resembles me in a patient care lead role, but couldn't find anyone. While your CEO is a person of color, the absence of people in color in leadership positions raises questions about your hiring practices. I can't help but wonder if this played a role in my experience, despite my strong qualifications. I'm positive it did. Also providing clear timelines at the start of the process would help manage expectations - something like "our process typically takes X weeks, and here's what you can expect at each stage.

The interview process lasted about six weeks. It started off fine but then got messy with three more interviews. There was almost a five-week gap where I didn't hear anything. Then, I got an apology email and was told there would be more interviews the next week. The manager emailed asking if I could do a day of or day after interview, even saying I was "at the top of the list." I agreed. Then, I didn't get a Zoom link for the final interview with two VPs. I emailed the manager an hour and a half before but got no response. I texted and still no response. Finally, I called and was able to join the interview, though I was late. Carrum's process was very disorganized and showed a disingenuous company culture.

The hiring process was pretty thorough, involving several remote interviews. I spoke with recruiters, the hiring manager, people from the billing team, and even some cross-functional folks and finance leaders. A bit of a snag was that they weren't super clear upfront about how many rounds there would be, and it felt like they kept adding more interviews as we went along. I had my first chat with the recruiter on June 23 and my last interview on August 5, even though they initially said they'd decide by July 27. Every time I thought we were wrapping up, another interview would pop up. Everyone I met was really professional and nice, but the whole thing felt like it took too long and wasn't very clear regarding the role. In the end, I didn't get the job, and they actually hired for the same role again a few months later.
