Implementation Manager
I had an initial call with a recruiter, then a first round interview over Teams with the recruiting manager, and finally a last interview on Teams with the Director of Implementations. All these interviews were one-on-one, on camera. They asked some technical questions about software/app knowledge and experience with data and analytic tools, but no actual skill tests were involved.
- What is your approach to handling client relationships when issues arise?
Manager
I went through this hiring process over about a month and a half, give or take, and felt super disconnected and unsure of myself the entire time, until the end. The hiring manager interview felt like they were really bored and unengaged with me, but to my surprise I made it to the next round which was an assessment. The assessment instructions were super unclear, but no one got back to me with any clarity, so I just did based on my gut reaction what I thought they wanted, but felt like it wasn't correct. I was surprised I made it to the next round after that because, again, I wasn't even sure if it was completed correctly nor did I get any feedback. The next stages were final rounds, and this is when it was clear I wasn't going to be selected. The first of the two again they felt super disengaged and bored, and their parting remarks were clear they were just doing this to get through. The last interview was with the group leader, and I was offput by one of their answers to a question I had that they could have gave their perspective of, but pushed back saying it wasn't in their realm to answer, which, again, their perspective would have been interesting to hear since they are the leader. I was happily surprised to receive the formal rejection, but I feel like it was a waste of my time to complete such a vague assessment and then meet with such an unenthusiastic team. Even if they surprised me with an offer it didn't feel like a great team to be a part of unfortunately.
- Can you tell me about your experience collaborating cross functionally with different personalities?
Manager
It was a frustrating interview process. I went through four interviews, and I never felt super confident after any of them. They kept pushing me through, so I assumed I was doing well. I just didn't get a good vibe from anyone. It was also never clear what the job actually entailed. The final interview was the worst. The interviewer was dressed casually, seemed distracted, and possibly not paying attention. It felt like she didn't want to be there and was defensive. Like everyone else, I got a standard rejection email and was ignored when I asked for feedback. I'm okay with being rejected, but I wish they had shown more respect in how they handled candidates. Don't keep people waiting if you're not interested, and provide feedback when asked.
