First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Carrington Mortgage Services.
Mortgage Underwriter
I had four interviews. First with the Recruiter, then the Team Lead, then the Regional Manager, and finally the SVP of Underwriting. Each meeting was about 30 minutes and they mostly explained the workflow and asked a few questions.
- What are your thoughts on answering the phone?
Customer Advocate
The recruiter was really scattered and disorganized. They were nice people but honestly, as the face of the company, they were a major red flag. I'm not convinced management got a true sense of who I am. They messed up the interview time twice. The second time, they were late because they were busy dealing with an emergency and texting their boss to set up an offer for another candidate. Right after the interview, I got a voicemail from them, which was clearly meant for someone else... again. The questions they asked were odd, and it felt like they couldn't hear me properly because they kept asking 'what?' I didn't receive an offer, but I genuinely feel like I dodged a bullet if this is how their recruitment process works; it was incredibly unorganized.
- What is your approach to dealing with a very angry customer?
Mortgage Loan Officer
I sent my resume to a former colleague who passed it to the hiring manager. They called me and set up an interview. I went to the office and spoke with two sales managers and a processing manager. After I answered some questions, they informally asked if I'd accept an offer if it was presented that day with a start within two weeks. I inquired about salary competitiveness. HR contacted me the same day with offer details. Within a week, I accepted, finished my drug test and background check. By the end of the second week, I had resigned from my old job, started the new role, and completed orientation.
- On average, how many loans can you consistently close each month?
Service Analyst
Applied for the Sr Quality Servicing position in Aliso Viejo. Was interviewed by 3 people at different times, last time was with Dept Mgr. Lady who called me asked me what i would be liked to be making, said we can possibly work with that. Got offered job then got offered 3$ less a hr then what i said i was making and asking for. Non negotiable. Waste of time. Good experience but that lady left a bad taste in my mouth leading this whole process on. This is CA. you cannot except people to survive on that. This isnt a Customer service position but the pay wasnt far from it.
- Can you explain what a short sale is?
