First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Carrington College.
Enrollment Services Representative
The interview process felt off from the start. The manager seemed aggressive and intimidated me by saying she doesn't care if people think she micromanages. This felt like a big red flag. I'm glad I didn't get the job because I have a better offer with kind interviewers now. Their job posting was misleading because they advertised for someone to help enroll students, but the manager said they are actually looking for a salesperson and won't hire someone who isn't focused on sales. It felt like a waste of time since they weren't clear about the role's true focus.

Academic Coach
The interview was very brief, and the interviewer initially seemed upfront. However, as the interview progressed, it became clear she wasn't being entirely truthful. After a couple of questions, she indicated a preference for candidates with more experience than I possess. I have over two years of higher education experience (academic advising) and more than three years in K-12 education, plus over a year as an adjunct instructor. The job description mentioned '1 to 3 years of education related work experience preferred,' which I believe my extensive background (over six years) fulfills. I felt I met all the qualifications, including a master's degree, relevant experience, familiarity with LMS platforms like Canvas, and strong knowledge of APA formatting. The interviewer then stated she would keep my application for an Academic Coach role, suggesting I'd be a better fit. While this would be acceptable if true, it appears not to be the case. The interviewer accidentally included me in an internal email listing nine other candidates and their statuses. My status indicated my resume needed updating, despite me sending the most recent version and my master's transcript the day before as requested. The email also noted the screening didn't go well, which is odd given the interview's brevity (about 2 minutes) and my responses to her two questions. So, while I was told they had more experienced candidates but could be considered for another role, the internal email suggests a different reality. This was unprofessional and dishonest.

Enrollment Services Director
A recruiter called me for an initial screening and then set up an interview with a manager on campus, which went well. After that, the recruiter contacted me again for an interview with their regional director. This interview was quite unpleasant and belittling. I was asked about my previous salary, why I didn't apply for the job at my last company, and if I'd be open to a rep role instead of director. I was so insulted I couldn't focus. I later found out through my network that someone else was hired, and the recruiter never even informed me.

Director of Financial Aid
Carrington Stockton seemed like a great place to interview. I got the sense that they really cared about their students and staff. The Campus President showed good leadership skills and answered my questions well. The initial phone interview wasn't as nerve-wracking as I expected, and neither was the on-site. Everyone I interacted with, from the person who scheduled my interview to the interviewers themselves, was professional and nice. I appreciated how clear they were about the entire process. They explained what the next step would be after every interaction. It's a lengthy process, but they're very upfront and professional about it.
- What were some standard questions asked during the interview?
