I was interviewed by the firm when they visited my law school. The interview was brief, lasting only 15-20 minutes. The attorney was really nice and asked some straightforward questions to get to know me.

They gave me a copy of their benefits package, which included health insurance, PTO policies, and bonus policies. I thought it was a joke. They also wanted to run my credit, which I declined. The benefits offered were: a 401k with no employer match, long-term disability insurance (where your salary increased by the premium amount and then was deducted from your pay), $1,000 a month for family health insurance with a $200 deductible for prescriptions each year, and no dental or vision coverage. Sick leave was 8 hours a month from January to November, with no sick leave earned in December, and a carryover max of 480 hours. Vacation was 1/2 day a month from January to October, with no vacation earned in November or December. For the first 7 years of service, you earned 1 day a month from January to October, and after 8 years, you earned 1.5 days a month. Vacation time had to be taken in 1/2 day or whole day increments, so you couldn't just take a couple of hours off for something. They offered 1 personal day a year after you had been there for 3 years. Any time off without pay meant you wouldn't be eligible for a raise. Christmas bonuses were only 1-3 weeks pay based on length of employment, not performance, and you had to bill 1660 hours a year to be eligible for your raise and bonus. This works out to a minimum of 36 billable hours every week if you account for sick leave, vacation time, and state holidays.

the interview was pretty simple, I talked to the recruiter and a partner. They told me about the company benefits, pay, how the work life balance is, the typical schedule, and what it's like to work there.
