First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Carowinds.
Food and Beverage
The interview process at Carowinds is usually pretty easy and laid-back. Most people say it feels more like a friendly conversation than a stressful interview. After you apply online or in person, they’ll typically reach out to set up a short interview, which might be one-on-one or sometimes in a small group. The questions are simple and focus on things like your availability, how you work with others, how you’d handle guests, and why you want to work there. The interviewers are generally nice and welcoming, and in many cases people hear back with a job offer the same day or within a few days. Overall, it’s a quick and straightforward process.
- They usually ask about your availability, like what days and hours you can work.
- They might also ask something simple like, “Why do you want to work at Carowinds?”
- or “How would you handle a difficult guest?”
IT Supervisor
Applied for an IT job, had an interview, then nothing for two weeks. Emailed, no reply. Called and left a message a week later, still no reply. Two days after that, got a call from a manager in another department for a phone screening for a different supervisor position. Passed the screening and had an interview with two managers. Again, had a great interview, but then two weeks went by with no word. Sent a follow-up email, no reply. Their website still says 'under consideration' for both jobs, but it's been weeks.
- What makes you want to apply for this position?
Games and Merchandise Associate
I applied for the job by filling out an application when I got there. After about a week, they called me for an in-person interview. We all sat in the lobby waiting to be interviewed. I was interviewed by a woman in her 40s. She asked standard questions about workplace scenarios and some random "favorite" questions. The interview ended, and I was called a few days later about being hired and started the following week.
- Would you reapply for this job later if you weren't hired?
- Tell me about how you'd handle specific situations at work.
Merchandise Associate
The interview process took a while. First, I had a 5-minute screening with one interviewer after waiting to be called. Then, I waited another 30 minutes to go to the next building for the main interview. There were other candidates there, and we all chatted. An interviewer called us one by one to complete the rest of the interview. After a good chat with the interviewer, I got the job.
- Can you recall a time when you had to do something you were reluctant to do?
