Sales Manager
So the interview process goes like this: First, a recruiter screens you and talks about the company. Then, you talk to the hiring manager about your past jobs and experience. After that, the VP of Sales wants to know who you know and how you'd kick things off. Next, the Senior VP focuses on your performance and skills. The Chief Evanglist interview is all about your network. Then there's a background check, and finally, an offer.
- Tell me about your performance.
- Who do you know?
- What skills do you have?
Performance Manager
I applied online and got a call back in about a week. We scheduled and I did the first interview. Then there was a two-week wait with not much contact, which made me think about urgency. I had a second interview and asked about the process. They said about 5 interviews but they needed someone fast, so it should be quick. A week after that, they said a third interview was coming up, about a month after I applied - way too long for an entry level job. Another week passed with excuses, then another week, and then nothing. I got 9 other job offers during this time. I took another job the same day they went silent. I tried to tell them I started a new job, but they still said 'another interview is coming.' They wasted my time! For a basic job, it shouldn't take weeks and multiple interviews. They should decide if they want you. This company seems to have this problem a lot based on other reviews.
- Can you tell me about your past experiences?
- Why are you interested in joining CarNow?
Support Engineer
They're a hiring partner with my web development bootcamp. Our career services set up the application, and they chose to interview me. The first step was a screen share in which I talked about one of my projects, then an in-person interview where they asked about my experience and working style. If I had been moved forward the last step would have been a phone call with the CEO.
- Can you tell me about one of your projects and the technologies you used, explaining your decision-making process and any challenges you faced?
- Tell me about your experience and working style.
- What are your thoughts on the next steps for this role?
Software Engineer
We did a screen-share of code I had written for a capstone project and talked about prior experience/why I chose programming as a career. Then went to an in-person and spoke with a half dozen members of the dev team. Asked a couple questions of how I work and also experiences working with others. Finally had a phone interview with the CTO.
- Tell me about your background in programming and your reasons for choosing it as a career.
- Can you share your experience in programming and explain why you decided to pursue it as a career?
