Product Manager
The whole interview thing was super fast and efficient. First, there was a screening call with the recruiter, and then I had one round of three interviews back-to-back with the hiring manager and some team members. Everyone I talked to was really friendly and seemed excited about starting some new business momentum. It was mostly behavioral questions but there were also some case-like questions. I got the result about 3-4 hours after the interview, which was awesome – you could really see how fast they make decisions. I ended up declining the offer because of a personal location issue, but it was honestly one of the best interview experiences I've ever had. I'd totally recommend this company.
- What drives you most in your work, and how do you collaborate with developers?
- Could you share any experiences you have with improving an existing process?
- Tell me about your primary motivation at work and how you interact with developers.
Associate Product Manager
The screening phone call was a bit unusual. The interviewer didn't ask me any questions; instead, they talked for a while about the company culture at CarGurus. After about 10 minutes, they tested me on what they had just said. I was pretty out of it by then, so I doubt I gave the answer they wanted. I didn't get a callback after that. I also found their strong emphasis on 'inclusiveness' a bit off-putting, given that most of their staff appears to be Caucasian. It didn't feel very genuine. I'd rather see them hire more POC than promote a 'commitment to diversity.' It might be a decent place to work for someone who fits well.
- What part of what I told you resonated most with you?
Product Manager
I applied and heard back from the recruiter pretty fast. The recruiter then set up a call with the hiring manager. My chat with the hiring manager involved a product case study on a product I picked. After that, I had an in-person interview with three product leaders. One of them presented a product case study, but it was mostly a discussion about CarGurus. I didn't get an offer, but the recruiter was professional and gave me feedback.
- What motivated you to pursue a career in product management?
