First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cargo Chief.
Sales Manager
The interview process was pretty fast, unlike many other companies. I had 3 phone interviews, two with the VP of Sales and one with the CEO. By the end of the third interview, I had a clear understanding of the expected activities and performance metrics if I were to get the job offer. I discussed my previous sales and customer account management experience.
- Describe your approach to prospecting and lead generation.
- Can you provide details about your past book of business, including gross revenue, margin, and the number of customers you managed?
Software Engineer
I had two rounds of interviews: a 30-minute technical phone screen that covered resume questions, technical questions, and availability, followed by a 3-hour onsite interview with 3 interviewers. The onsite included whiteboard coding. I also had a brief tour of the company. It seemed to go well, but they only had one position open.
- Could you explain some higher functions in JavaScript?
- Can you describe a sorting algorithm and how to optimize it?
- Can you provide a detailed explanation of your projects?
Sales Account Executive
I sent my resume and cover letter, and the hiring manager responded that he wasn't going to hire me for a salary, despite my software sales experience, because I hadn't worked as a freight broker before. He then offered a commission-only role at 10% MRR, with the possibility of discussing a salary later if I proved myself.
- Would you accept a role with no base salary and 10% MRR?
Operations Manager
I had three phone/conference call interviews with each of the Managers. They asked me a bunch of questions about my experience, my college, and why I was looking to leave my current job. The interviews were pretty relaxed, and they mainly wanted to understand my drive and what I could contribute to the company.
- What is your main motivator?
