First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CareMessage.
Consultant
It went great, they told me what to expect and I got to learn about the company's values while meeting the hiring committee. I had three interviews, and one of them was a panel interview.
- How do you keep yourself organized?
VP of Sales
There were 5 interviews for this role, involving several leaders and a case study for executives. They really scrutinize candidates, and I was up for the challenge. The interviews themselves were pretty standard. Despite leading me on through the whole process, they ultimately rejected me, citing 'people management' issues, which is ironic given my background and the smaller scope of the role. It feels like they're not being upfront about the real reasons, but after seeing other reviews, I'm not surprised. Just be aware that transparency might not be their strong suit.
- Can you describe how you incorporate diversity and inclusion into your current responsibilities?
Software QA Engineer
I applied to a position at CareMessage that I saw on StackOverflow Jobs. I had a total of 6 phone interviews that took place over 6 weeks. The first interview was a technical screening. The next one was with the technical team. The remaining 4 interviews were with management. One of the interviews was a backup because the co-founder I was supposed to talk to wasn't available. After the fifth interview, they basically told me I was going to be hired, and the co-founder meeting was just a formality. The head of operations even discussed work eligibility and the possibility of me moving to San Francisco. When I finally spoke with the co-founder, I was waiting for the next steps to finalize the hiring process. After two weeks with no word, I reached out to the operations manager, and they told me the co-founder didn't approve my hire. I had another offer, so I took it.
- Why are you interested in working at CareMessage?
Customer Support Associate
So I normally don't leave reviews but this experience was so baffling and shocking due to the cold and uncaring approach I felt compelled to share. The pros were that it's a small, lean group and the EA who was the recruiting coordinator was quick to respond. The cons were that the first stage was an interview with the founder, which was quite awkward and felt very one-way, like the founder didn't care about the candidate experience. I hoped it would get better but the next stage was an assignment where I had to prepare a presentation to train mock clinic staff and another on the implementation plan. After submitting, I had a 45-minute presentation with two other team members which went well. But what was shocking was when I asked about next steps and they had no idea, it seemed like they were caught off guard and there were communication gaps. When I asked the assistant via email about next steps and timeline, the response was cold and vague, just saying they aren't sure but will reach out in about 2 weeks. Then shortly after, I got an email from the founder stating they won't be proceeding, again with a cold and matter-of-fact tone. Honestly, even if offered, I would have declined.
