I actually interviewed twice. I would have given it a third try if necessary. The second time I was paired with a wonderful team of recruiters/interviewers. I enjoyed talking with them. Onboarding has even been a breeze. I look forward to see what is in store from here.

I had a quick 10-15 minute phone chat with a recruiter, which was great. They were friendly and answered my questions. Then, they set up an interview for the next day with the hiring manager via Teams. It was a short 17-minute interview, and though I was a bit anxious because it was brief, it went really well. We covered standard questions like 'tell me about yourself' and questions related to my skills and the job. I'd suggest looking into the company's mission and values and be ready to talk about how you'd fit with them! Also, dress professionally, as you would for an in-office meeting.

The hiring manager was nice. I had to take a SQL test, which I think is standard for a technical role, and the manager seemed satisfied with it. The final interview with the department director, Zachary Owen, was really unpleasant and condescending. I felt like he was unhappy with my lack of experience, even though it's just an internship. I think companies like this make it hard for new grads by expecting too much experience. If I'd known how unfriendly that part would be, I would have exaggerated my experience. This company has many negative reviews and I wouldn't recommend it, especially for minorities. The hiring manager never followed up, and when I asked for a response, I got a generic ChatGPT rejection, despite going through multiple interview rounds and several emails.

The interview process started with a 1-hour interview with the CEO, which included a SQL challenge. This was followed by more interviews with people from different departments. The SQL challenge was quite extensive and took me at least 20 hours to complete, which felt excessive compared to other technical challenges I encountered. Interestingly, the CEO did not review my work on the challenge, and I suspect no one at the company actually attempted the technical challenge themselves.
