Project Manager
HR reached out to me on LinkedIn. I wasn't looking for a job but I talked to them anyway and set up an interview. I went in and met with 3 Account Directors and then HR. They called me back for a second interview where I met with another Account Director. The role seemed a bit different than what I was initially told. They said they'd let me know their decision within a week. I had to follow up two weeks later and they told me they weren't moving forward with filling the role. It felt like a waste of my time and they seemed unsure about their needs. Also, I shared examples of my past work and noticed one Account Director taking notes. Later, I saw the company using my example with another client.
- Can you provide examples of your past work?
Project Manager
I interviewed in late 2014 for a Project Manager role. The interview was with three people: the CFO, a marketing exec, and an account manager. The marketing exec, who is also the CEO's girlfriend, asked me super personal stuff like if I had kids, if I lived with my parents, and if I owned a car (even though the job doesn't need one). It felt like they were trying to see if I'd fit into their no work-life balance culture.
- Can you tell me about your previous job position?
- What college did you go to?
- What was your college major?
Staff Accountant
It was a phone screen with HR first, then an in-person interview with a panel. I met with 3 people, but 2 of them were late. The most senior person mostly talked about themselves, and the second person who arrived late even took out their phone and went on social media with the sound on.
- Can you describe your experience?
Accountant
It was a really conversational interview! The people interviewing me were super nice and totally open about the day-to-day tasks involved in the job. They also made me feel really welcome.
- Can you tell me the reason you're looking to leave your role at a Big Four firm?
