First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CarData.
Automotive Photographer
The interview process at CarData is hands on and practical. Instead of a typical sit down interview, candidates do paid shadow days working directly in the field with current photographers at dealership locations. During the shadow days, the process was explained thoroughly — including how to use their app, the invoicing system, communicating with dealership staff, marking vehicles, and following shot lists for photos and video. The trainers were friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with questions throughout. It's a straightforward process that gives you a genuine feel for the day to day responsibilities before committing to the role.

Photographer
I applied about 6 months ago and they got in touch about a week ago. First there was a phone screening, then job shadowing. The phone interview was very interpersonal, and also a little grilling but to the point. They are very explicit in detail and want to examine to their best abilities if you are fit for the job. Asking questions such as “Are you comfortable doing this?” Etc.
- Tell me about your past experiences in previous jobs.
Assistant Photographer
Instead of a regular interview, we did a 'Shadow Day' where we watched an employee for their average day working for CarData Inc.. We were told to ask questions to get a better grasp of what our day-to-day duties were for this position. The interviewer was extremely professional and we found great chemistry between each other.
