Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Card Factory.
Sales Assistant
I had a casual chat with the store manager. They asked me general questions about myself and the job. They also threw in some on-the-spot questions to check my knowledge and see how I'd handle customer complaints that might pop up.
- What sales experience do you have?
- How would you upsell items at the checkout while customers are paying?
Sales Assistant
It was a good experience overall with quite standard interview questions. I think my main advice would be to be passionate about celebrating 'life moments' and coming across as an organised and motivated person. It was my first interview and I'm naturally quite shy, but I still got the job because they saw the potential in me.
- What is the meaning of the phrase 'the customer is always right'?
- How would you handle a difficult customer?
- What are your thoughts on the responsibilities of this job?
Sales Assistant
The interview experience was pretty relaxed and informal, which gave a false impression of the workplace. Not much information was shared, but the manager seemed okay. I can't recall most of the interview details. There was a peculiar policy regarding students: regardless of college attendance hours, contracts were capped at 4 hours, even though more hours were expected in practice, but benefits were only provided for the 4-hour contract.
- Are you still in school?
