First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Carbon38.
Product Development Manager
I was contacted by a recruiter about this job. I then met the team in person for an interview. I interviewed with three people at the same time. They were nice, but I didn't get a clear sense of what they were looking for.
- Can you describe your management style?
Director, Customer Support
It was a really long and draining interview process. They asked a lot of questions about my background and my ideas for improving current processes. I had about 8 interviews in total with different departments like Marketing and People, and also with the COO. After two weeks with no word, I reached out to the hiring manager. It took them a few days to respond, just saying they were interviewing other people. I waited another two weeks and reached out again, and they gave me a one-line response saying they were going in a different direction. Interestingly, the job was posted on LinkedIn the same day with the exact same description. My advice to Carbon leaders is to be transparent. If you can't meet salary expectations and want to maintain a good reputation, provide feedback instead of delays and vague answers. And to the HR department, a little courtesy goes a long way with external candidates. My emails about the interview and thank you notes were never acknowledged. As an applicant, I did a lot of work, and some people made it seem like I was getting the job, only to be dismissed with little to no information and absolutely no feedback.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What is your understanding of our company?
Project Manager
I applied for a Project Manager position at Carbon38 via a recruitment agency. It took about a month to hear back. Then, I had a video interview with the hiring manager. She talked about the company and the role. She asked if I had questions for her, but didn't ask me any questions herself. I had to lead the conversation with my questions. It was a really unusual interview experience.
- Do you have any questions for me?
Marketing Professional
The interview process was super smooth. Everyone I talked to seemed to really like their jobs. They work fully remote, which I thought showed how well they can collaborate across teams.
- Tell me what you enjoy most about your present position and what you dislike.
- What are your least favorite aspects of your current job?
