Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Capri Holdings.
Manager
Applied for the Manager role. The interview process involved a phone screen with a recruiter, followed by an onsite interview with the hiring manager and the department director. I received an offer a few days later. The recruiter was excellent, very communicative!
- What motivates your interest in working at Capri?
- Could you describe your understanding of teamwork?
- How do you ensure personal accountability?
Assistant Manager
I applied because I'd heard good things about the company and got an interview about two weeks later, but it was a bad experience. I did my research beforehand and dressed professionally. The General Manager, who recruits for the company, interviewed me and another candidate together. He didn't even know what we were interviewing for initially. The other person was interviewing for Sales Associate, and I was interviewing for management, which was weird. He asked questions about my knowledge of Michael Kors and my experience. The rest of the questions were fashion-focused: favorite designer, owning Michael Kors items, etc. He then said in an arrogant tone that my assistant manager needs to live and breathe fashion and have a fashion degree, and so on. He didn't ask about my management skills or what I'd bring to the company. I have 10 years of retail management experience and a fashion degree, but he ignored it because I like more than one designer. He was rude, unprofessional, and the interview felt irrelevant. I was offended and upset afterward.
- What is your favorite designer?
- Do you own any Michael Kors items?
Assistant Manager
I applied online for the Assistant Manager role and heard back about a month later to schedule a Skype call. After a few reschedules, I had a 20-minute phone chat with an HR rep. They asked about my personality and goals, and said they'd be in touch. The next day, I interviewed with the Store Manager at the store for an hour. I really liked the interview; it was professional with clear expectations. They were checking my knowledge, leadership, experience, and personality. I was told the Store Manager would give feedback to HR, and then I'd hear about the next steps, but it's been almost two weeks and I haven't heard anything.
- What makes you want to join our Company?
- How would you go about motivating your team?
- Is there anything you'd like to professionally improve or develop about yourself?
