First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Capgemini Invent.
Software Engineer
After my CV was screened, I had an initial phone screening with the recruiter. It was a short, about 20-minute chat with standard questions. Then, I had a 2-hour interview with a lead developer. This was split into two parts. First, we discussed interview questions, and it was more of a conversation than an interrogation. The second part was a programming challenge done via screenshare. I had some choice in the task (API/UI) and the tech I used. They emphasized writing high-quality code over completing the task, specifically mentioning the importance of adding tests, noting that a lack of tests might lead to failure. I unfortunately focused too much on writing tests and didn't finish the task. The interviewer gave brief feedback at the end. I got my rejection a few days later with more detailed feedback, which was appreciated.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What tech stack have you used?
Software Engineer
I applied for the position and heard back two weeks later. They asked about my expected compensation. I was scheduled for an interview on a weekday at 10 AM, which involved three rounds: two technical and one HR. The first technical round covered core Java fundamentals and the application frameworks on my resume. The second technical round focused on database concepts and more Java questions; if you're well-prepared, these can be manageable. After finishing for the day, I received an email requesting documents. Once submitted, I was informed on the following Monday that HR would call to discuss compensation. During the call, they clarified their offer was within a specific range. I expressed I'd consider it and respond by day's end. I accepted the offer via email and asked to proceed. A week later, I followed up on the process, and they mentioned they were preparing the offer letter. I felt relieved things were progressing. After another week with no response, I emailed them for about 20 days without any reply, which was frustrating due to the lack of communication. Based on conversations with others, I gathered that the HR team at the Ecospace office in Bangalore might not be very efficient.
- Could you explain what indexing in a Database is?
Software Engineer
The interview process was quite good and effective. 3 colleges were participating this time. Originally I belonged to Gnit Kolkata but the interview process was for the whole JIS group of engineering colleges. First day consisted of Aptitude and pseudo code rounds. After that the next day contained the interview and the HR rounds. Aptitude questions were quite easy for me. Apti round came with an addition Essay round. Then pseudo code contained some 20 mins which were to be submitted within 20mins. Pseudo code round was basically Technical mcqs. After that day, we were called at 10in the morning. The interview was conducted one-on-one. It consisted of basically personality questions and questions that were related to the subjects that was written in the CV. Technical question were asked from the subjects. After technical round, we were asked to wait for the results. Upon passing the technical interview round, we were called for the HR round. Overall it was a good experience for a first timer like me :)
