First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Capella University.
Academic Advisor
The interview for this remote role was conducted over the phone. I received a calendar invite to choose a convenient date and time. On the interview day, I got a call at the scheduled time. A friend mentioned they interviewed twice, but I only completed the first pre-screening interview.
- Tell me about a time you assisted a student in overcoming a difficulty or hurdle. What was the problem, and what guidance or advice did you offer the student?
Professor
The interview process was great and very positive. It involved discussing my background and qualifications. They asked many questions about my teaching style and policies, including my availability, time management, and other related aspects.
- What is your motivation for joining this university?
- Could you elaborate on your teaching style?
- What are your policies regarding teaching, availability, and time management?
Financial Analyst
It was a pretty standard process. A recruiter reached out for a quick phone screen, then I had a Zoom interview with the manager of the department. They obviously didn't think I was the right fit, which is fine, but it's been weeks and I still haven't heard back from anyone at the company, even after trying to contact several people about next steps. I'm really disappointed with the lack of communication, professionalism, and respect, and I wouldn't advise anyone to waste their time applying.
- Can you tell me about your experience using Excel?
Student Mentor
I applied for a part-time mentor position in the Human Services program, and it was for a PhD level. The person who made the hiring decision was really energetic and cheerful, and the HR person was fun to talk to as well. However, they took a while to get back to me with the results. After I followed up with HR a couple of times, I found out I didn't get the job. It didn't feel like the most respectful process, and I didn't feel like my time was really valued.
- Can you tell me about your experience with qualitative research?
