First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Capella Space.
Intern
It was a really nice experience. The recruiting team was super friendly and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me beyond just being a candidate. I could feel the positive company culture right from the interview. The hiring process was also really easy, clear, and transparent.
- Primarily asked standard behavioral questions.
Director of Manufacturing Operations
Seven plus rounds of interviews which felt like too many. The team didn't seem to have a unified understanding of what they were looking for in the role. They also changed the interview plan multiple times and said they'd already taken three candidates through all the rounds. It felt like a waste of time, so be careful if you're considering interviewing.
- Can you share some general questions about your work history?
Project Manager
The recruiter was upfront about the interview stages during the initial screening, which was great. After that, there was a technical interview one-on-one with the hiring manager. Then, I had an interview panel and gave a presentation on my past work. Unfortunately, the recruiter let me know a few days before that they had moved forward with another candidate. Capella did consider me for a different project manager role, but I didn't feel it was the best fit for my skills. It was a bit of a rollercoaster, but I appreciated the honesty throughout. Everyone I met seemed genuine.
- Can you describe the technical level of your background?
Software Engineer
The interview process started with a 30-minute phone call that had some technical questions, then a 4-hour test on Coderbyte. After that, I had an interview over Zoom with 4 engineers. They mostly asked me to talk about my resume. The last interview was with the manager where they asked typical behavioral questions. It seemed to go well, but then I was ghosted. The feedback they gave my recruiter seemed totally false, which is suspicious. My advice is to skip this interview, they don't seem serious about hiring a good engineer. I wasted 9 hours and they couldn't even be bothered to reply. Very shady.
- Can you explain what a linked list is, provide a template for it, and discuss its use in C++?
- Describe your resume content verbally.
- Walk me through your resume.
