I first submitted my application through the CSD portal, which included some video-recorded questions. After that, a principal reached out and scheduled an interview with me over Zoom. The interview panel included a VP and a principal. We had a friendly conversation, and I felt it went really well. They asked standard questions about classroom management, IPLCs, and lesson planning.

The interview process was fast, almost too fast, and I got hired almost immediately. While I was happy it went well, I ended up with a lot of unanswered questions. The interview wasn't with anyone I would actually work or teach with, and I didn't get to meet them or see the workspace before deciding. I think I would have enjoyed the job because I could have made a real difference with my passion for the students I'd be working with, but Canyons Online overall seems quite disorganized, possibly because it's new. This resulted in major miscommunication, and with the low pay for teaching support roles and so many openings, I'd probably look for a more established program with a clearer position if I were searching for a job in this field.

Pretty standard interview process. The interview was a group interview. After one week I followed up with my interviewer via email to thank them for the interview and see if I could provide them with any more information. After two weeks I emailed again and asked if they had made a decision. Still haven’t heard back. It’s so incredibly rude not to follow up with someone, even if they did not get the position. I need to know if I should take another position or what is going on. I’m so turned off by that I don’t much care to work here anymore. It shouldn’t take that long to get back to someone.

It was a pretty standard interview. They didn't ask for a portfolio, but I think it's a great way to show your skills, probably better than what you can do in the interview time. Because I was hired during the pandemic, they asked about integrating technology.
