So I mainly did this whole thing to learn about the company and get some practice interviewing, tbh, since the job was pretty junior for me and woulda been a $20K pay cut. It started with a video screening thing, then I chatted with HR, and finally talked to the hiring manager. The hiring manager was cool and easy to talk to, which was nice. We geeked out about my technical SEO background, like replatforming stuff, and she said that was actually super relevant to some recent problems they'd had. So, I figured I was in. The main hang-up seemed to be about AI/GEO though. I was real with them and said I think most LLM success right now still comes from solid traditional SEO, not some fancy "GEO tactics," especially since there's no real way to measure LLM visibility yet. My vibe was that they might want someone who sounds super confident about AI trends, rather than someone who's focused on what's actually measurable and works.

The interview process was kinda unclear. It started great with a good recruiter screening. Then a solid hour with the hiring manager went well. My last interview was a panel with the hiring manager, art director, web merchandising specialist, and a digital marketing director. The panel went okay since I was ready to show my experience. What was weird was the follow-up after that last interview. I sent thank yous and didn't hear much until a day later. The recruiter said I was still in the running and they were finishing up other interviews that week. Then I got a random rejection email, but the recruiter quickly said it was a mistake and to ignore it. After that, I was mostly ghosted even though people I knew put in references. It's fine, but some closure would've been nice after the recruiter was so consistent at first.

I applied for this entry-level marketing job in Tucson. The description said no experience was needed, and I was still in college with little marketing knowledge, but I'm a good student and eager to learn. The application was easy. A week later, I got a call for an interview. The interviewer, a young lady with a European accent, was rude and clearly didn't want to be there. She just read from a script and didn't even look at my resume. Even though I told her about marketing projects I did in school, she said it wasn't enough for a job that supposedly required no experience. The day after the interview, she called to say the manager wants someone with experience. Total waste of my time.

The interview process with Canyon Ranch was lovely. The entire process from submitting my application to receiving an offer took around 3 weeks in total. I heard back about a week after submitting my application via email from the HR recruiter at which time we scheduled a phone call to discuss scheduling an in-person interview for the following week. The in-person interview included meeting with HR privately, then meeting with several staff managers privately as well. Everyone was wonderful. The questions were straight forward, and fairly easy. But most of all I really felt as though the entire team took the time to invest in the interview experience. Less than a week after my interview I was offered the position.
