Human Resources Business Partner
I was contacted via LinkedIn for a role. Over two weeks, I completed 5 phone/Teams interviews. I was then told to expect an in-person interview within 3 days and to be ready to travel. After that, there was complete silence. I followed up by email and phone with no response. Two weeks later, I received an email stating they had chosen another candidate. It was a long process with many interviews and good communication initially, followed by silence. This lack of communication and the wasted time for a brief rejection email was disappointing.
- Can you tell me about your recruiting experience?
Floor Ambassador
It was a pretty quick and straightforward process with the site manager and floor manager. They asked some basic questions like telling me about myself, how I found out about the role, and why I want to work there. They really want you to elaborate on your background and career goals.
- How do you see yourself fitting into this position?
Operations Manager
After a friendly recruiter phone screen, I had two back-to-back interviews on-site the same day with the Sr Director of HR and the Director of Operations (who was the hiring manager). The interviews went okay, although the Director of Operations was a bit socially awkward. It became clear during these interviews that they have a really challenging client, and I even wondered if their relationship with this client was in trouble, which made me pause about continuing. While managing client relationships is always important, this seemed like more than usual, and not in a good way. I followed up with the recruiter and sent thank you notes to both interviewers. The Director of Operations responded in writing, saying I'd hear back within a week. I didn't hear anything for 72 days, and then I saw the job posting was live again. I asked the recruiter for an update and was quickly told they decided to go with other candidates. While not every interview leads to an offer, I expected better professionalism and timely communication, especially since they asked about effective communication during the interview. It's ironic given the lack of follow-up. Overall, the people were nice and the experience was okay, though I do feel like I dodged a bullet with their client situation.
- How do you manage demanding clients?
Human Resources
I applied online. I had a phone interview with an HR leader. I think I met the qualifications, but I had a lot of job hopping recently because of COVID. The HR person seemed annoyed and had an attitude towards the end of the interview. I was being professional and answering her questions with examples. When she asked her last question, she asked if I had questions for her. I asked a couple, and then she just said 'Ok, thanks for your time' and hung up without any pleasantries. It left me with a bad impression of the company. I am getting my MBA and want to work for a large corporation, and I will never recommend this company. Candidates remember how they were treated.
