Front Desk
It was a pretty long interview process for an entry-level position. It had 3 steps: a phone screening, then an onsite panel interview with three people, followed by another panel interview with two people. The questions felt a bit repetitive and not super relevant to the actual job. They even asked some personal questions. The whole thing took about a month.

The interview process started with a standard phone screening where they asked about my motivation for applying and my relevant experience. After that, I was invited for an on-site interview with the Director and the Lead Data Analyst. The interview was quite relaxed and they were very polite. I was surprised they asked some data science/statistics questions for a BI role. Otherwise, the interview was pretty standard. I was told I'd hear back soon, but it's been over 3 months with no follow-up. I emailed for an update, but received no response, which I found disrespectful. The job is now listed as filled, and while I assume that's the case, they should have at least updated me. Terrible hiring etiquette.
- Can you explain what 'r' signifies?
- Could you differentiate between Regression and Classification techniques?
- What is the concept of overfitting in machine learning?
Executive Assistant
This was the most extensive and frankly overkill interview process I've ever encountered for an administrative role. I ended up spending more than 8 hours on assessments, both at home and at a psychologist's office. This included over 10 written tests, some online and some in person. I even had to take a half-day off work just for the psychologist appointment! They also ran a criminal record check and contacted all my references. What really struck me was that they wanted two references from my current employer, which is pretty unusual since most people wouldn't have disclosed they were job searching to their boss or coworkers. It felt like they didn't respect my time or my references' time. Given how incredibly bizarre the whole thing was, it's probably a good thing I didn't get the job.
- I was sent to a psychologist for a half-day session where I was extensively interviewed and analyzed, and also given a pile of in-person tests, after already completing 4 hours of tests at home/online.
- The questions asked during the panel interview were predominantly behavioral and very traditional, not at all progressive.

First, I talked with the Change Management project manager. Then, I had an interview with that project manager, another project manager from Finance, and a project manager from the implementation partner. The interview covered Canfor's project methodology, project scope, and project timeline. Finally, three Canfor project managers decided to hire me. The implementation partner, of course, wanted their own person, which was always a point of contention.
- Can you tell me about your experience with Oracle or JDEdwards software?
