First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at canfield scientific.
Software Engineer
I applied there back in 2010, and the receptionist called me over the phone and read me a list of questions. I answered them, and then I didn't get the job. Fast forward to 2025, I got contacted by a recruiter there. I told them about my previous experience with the receptionist interviewing me. The recruiter's boss then called me to say that never happened. She wouldn't believe me, and she said she's there every day. That was a big red flag for me.
- The receptionist asked a set of preformed questions.
Systems Test & Support Engineer
I applied online and HR contacted me for some phone questions. Then there was a 30-minute phone screen and an in-person interview. I got good feedback after both, but then heard nothing for two months. HR reached out again for a second interview, which I was hesitant about but they assured me my salary requirements were fine. The second interview was with the same people, and the owner said they expected to offer me the job. HR said I'd hear back in two days. Seven days later, I hadn't heard anything, so I called. A few hours after that, I got an email saying I wasn't selected because I was too experienced, which made no sense given my resume and prior discussions about salary. HR didn't respond when I reached out for clarification. My experience showed me that Canfield Scientific doesn't notify candidates when they aren't moving forward, HR may lie to get candidates to interview, they waste candidate time intentionally, and they ignore candidates when asked for feedback.
- Can you roleplay being a new hire assigned to a new project for an hour?
Senior Electronics Engineer
The hiring process started with a call from the hiring manager. Then, I had a second interview with the electronics team and the CTO. Before that, I was asked to submit some sample projects. Unfortunately, due to NDA, I could only provide basic projects I quickly put together, which were then criticized during the interview. Some interviewers were pleasant, but others were quite rude. Wishing good luck to future applicants for this role.
- Do you acknowledge that your code is of poor quality?
Image Analysis Scientist
I did the first screening, which was mainly HR questions like why I applied, salary expectations, and if I was willing to relocate. Then, I got an email to schedule the technical interview. I had a short technical interview and I'm now waiting for the results.
- Could you explain your motivation for applying to this role?
- What are your salary expectations?
- Are you open to relocating?
