Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Canadian Tire.
Business Analyst
First, there was an HR phone screening. Then, I had a round with the Hiring Manager and Team Lead where they asked classic behavioural and situation-based questions. They also asked about my projects with past employers and my competency in relevant tech skills. I got the job offer about 2-3 weeks after that.
- Imagine you are on the floor of a distribution center, and your task is to drive changes and improve the process. What would be your first step?
Business Analyst
Started with an HR screening call, then moved into friendly, multi-round panel interviews with managers and team members. The interviews included a mix of behavioral and technical questions related to the job description. All interviews were virtual and lasted about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
- Describe your data cleaning process.
- What is your experience level with Excel formulas and VBA?
Business Analyst
I applied for the job and then had an interview with the Category Manager for Tire. I didn't realize it was for the Tires category specifically when I applied because they didn't mention it in the job posting, which is a shame because I don't drive and know next to nothing about tires. I ended up making up a lot of things during the interview, which might be why I didn't get the job.
- What are your recommendations for merchandising tires, both online and in physical stores?
