First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cambium Assessment.
ELA Item Writer
The interview process was transparent and timely. After a recruiter phone screening, I interviewed with the hiring manager. Then came a work sample and panel interview. They were clear and upfront about next steps, hiring timeline, and job details (pay and benefits).
- Can you describe your approach to receiving and managing critical feedback?
Project Manager
First, I had a call with the recruiter. Then, I had about four or five interviews back-to-back with the team, lasting a few hours. The department director was the first interviewer and seemed positive. A few days later, the recruiter said they weren't moving forward with an offer for this role but had a Project Coordinator opening they thought I'd be a good fit for and asked me to wait. About two weeks later, she sent an application link for the Project Coordinator role. I turned it down because I had another opportunity.
- Can you describe a project you managed entirely from beginning to end?
- What's your process for creating test questions?
Software Engineer
I found this job through a LinkedIn post and a recruiter reached out a few weeks later. I had three technical interviews that included theoretical questions and live coding. These focused on general concepts and smaller programming tasks rather than intense algorithm problems like Leetcode. I also requested an additional team fit interview. I got an offer and managed to negotiate it slightly, which I was told was unusual.
- Can you describe the various types of SQL Server indexes and their respective advantages and disadvantages?
- What are the differences between using double equals and triple equals for comparisons in JavaScript?
- Could you explain the scoping differences between `var` and `let` in JavaScript?
Project Coordinator
First I spoke with the recruiter, who seemed a bit uninterested, but I figured maybe they were just having a long day. After that, I had an interview with the manager where we discussed my background. The manager asked general questions about my experience and also gave me an overview of the position and what they expect. The company culture seemed like a good fit, and I was pretty excited about the possibility of joining. However, I'm giving a neutral rating because neither the recruiter nor the manager has followed up or given me any feedback. It's been almost two weeks since I sent follow-up emails, and I still haven't heard back.
- Can you share some of your previous experience?
- What motivated you to apply to Cambium Assessment?
- What activities do you enjoy outside of work?
