The interview process usually has a few steps, but it can change depending on the company and the specific job. Basically, you'll start by applying and sending in your resume and cover letter. Then, they might look at resumes to pick people who seem to fit the basic job needs. This could involve a quick call or email to set up the first chat. The first interview is often a phone or video call to see if you've got the general qualifications and if you'd be a good fit. They'll probably ask about your background, skills, and why you're interested in the job. If you do well in the first one, you might get a second interview, which could be in person or video. This one might go deeper into your specific skills and what you can do. They might also give you a skills test to check how good you are at things like coding, writing, or solving problems, depending on what the job needs.

Technical Other

I went through 2 sessions. The first was with a senior controls engineer where we reviewed my background and discussed past projects. Then, they invited me to their facility in Webster. They didn't offer travel compensation, which I found unprofessional. At their facility, I had to complete a multiple-choice questionnaire covering concepts like ROS, Machine Vision, and Robotics. This questionnaire included numerical questions that seemed designed to test formula recall rather than knowledge or intuition, and surprisingly, none were software/coding related despite the job description. I hope they improve their hiring methods. After the questionnaire, I got a tour and then left. Overall, it felt unprofessional and not aligned with hiring for the listed position.

Behavioral Technical

I had a phone screen with HR and they conferred with the technical director to proceed with me. I came into the office and the HR person led me to a conference room and left me to wait for the hiring manager who was 15 minutes late. So I was left in this conference room waiting 15 minutes - rude and disrespectful start. He talked with me 15 minutes then an engineer came in. He seemed very under prepared and didn't really have anything to talk to me about. Then another engineer came in and the first one left. This one didn't previously look at my resume and read it while sitting with me. Then the hiring manager came back in to wrap up. Horrible job. Be more prepared to interview people and don't be late to the interview.
