First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Calm.
Account Executive
The recruiting team laid out the interview process clearly from the beginning and even gave tips and materials to help prepare for the first few interviews. However, the sales presentation and executive interviews didn't match up with what we were told to expect or the goals they set. The interviews went in unexpected directions and weren't really about what was originally discussed. It was pretty disappointing and felt a bit unprofessional. Seriously, check out all the reviews for this company; there are some recurring themes in both employee and interview experiences that are definitely worth looking into.
- Can you explain how you'd handle managing both current clients and a large new business territory?
- In the competitive mental health space, what strategies would you use to make Calm stand out?
Account Executive
I'm reviewing my interview for the SMB Account Executive role with CALM sales. It's important to me to be neutral, but the process felt unprofessional and disrespectful. I was referred by someone internal, and my first contact was HR. While they were nice, they were really unresponsive throughout. Communication was really poor. Our first meeting had to be rescheduled by them last minute, and then it took me multiple follow-up emails just to find out the next steps. Eventually, they set up a meeting with the hiring director. At the end of that interview, the director said she couldn't give feedback immediately and needed to discuss with the team, promising to personally give me feedback either way. Almost two weeks later, I got a generic rejection email from HR. I emailed the director thanking her and asking for the personal feedback she mentioned. It took multiple follow-ups over a month for her to respond, saying she was 'unable to provide any feedback at this time'. I understand not getting the job, but ignoring my emails for so long and then saying she couldn't give feedback at all feels disrespectful, especially since I was referred and had a meeting with her. It's not that hard to be communicative. It showed a lack of respect and emotional intelligence from a leader, and honestly, it made me feel disappointed with the company.
- What makes you think you'd be a good fit for CALM?
Account Executive
Started with a 30-min call with the recruiter, then a 30-min call with the VP of sales to discuss the role and my background. The final round involved a 30-minute presentation about myself and a live product demo, followed by Q&A with a panel of 4-5 people. After that, I had a few more chats with leaders to ensure it was a good fit, and then they extended an offer. The whole process was quite pleasant, just a bit lengthy but not really an issue.
- In your opinion, what's the most crucial stage in the sales cycle?
