Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at California Unified Service Providers.
Behavior Therapist
the interview was great and very straightforward. they asked common questions, along with general questions about my experience and passions. they also provided a brief description of the job's responsibilities.
- Can you tell me about your experience?
- What are you passionate about?
- Could you describe what the job involves?
Behavior Technician
I had a phone interview, then they asked for two references and to schedule an in-person interview. When I got to the in-person interview, I had to fill out another application. They told me to arrive 15 minutes early for this. Everyone seemed really nice and friendly, and the interview felt like a conversation. The interviewer really knew their stuff about the company.
- How do you approach building a connection with a child who is shy?
Behavioral Technician
I found the organization online and emailed my cover letter and resume. Within one week, I got an email reply asking if I could schedule an interview. I was then interviewed by the company's founder. It was a straightforward interview, the focus was on my education, especially my understanding of child development and ABA theories. He also questioned my background working with children with special needs. He thoroughly explained what requirements were needed in order to work in that position. I left the interview feeling positive, but I suspected that they'd hire someone with a Masters degree or BCBA credential instead. I didn't get the job offer, but he did tell me to re-apply.
- Have you worked with individuals on the Autism Spectrum before?
Behavior Technician
They asked me about my background working with kids and also specifically children with special needs. They also looked over my college grades and asked me about how I managed to get good grades.
- Were you committed to working with kids that have special needs?
