First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at California Casualty.
Claims Adjuster
Applied online, had a phone interview, then they requested 5 work references to fill out stuff online and send back. After that, there was an in-person interview with 3 managers, including the head of claims who was unprofessional and cussed. They asked STAR related questions and job specifics.
- How would you deal with a challenging customer?
- What's your process for deciding fault in an accident?
Claims Adjuster
This whole thing takes about a month. You apply online and then get an assessment that checks how well you'd fit in at California Casualty, kind of like an IQ test. Once that's done, an HR person will hit you up to set up a phone chat with a Talent Acquisition Specialist. If they think you're a good fit after that initial chat, they'll send your info to the Hiring Manager. You'll then have two interviews with them, and after that, it's a yes or no.
- Can you share an instance where you had to make a swift decision?
- How would you describe your typical daily tasks?
- Recount a situation where you encountered a challenging task.
Claims Adjuster
The interview process went fine until I met with management. The regional manager was unprofessional. I didn't get an offer, but I wouldn't have taken it anyway. Their expectations for a candidate didn't match their pay range, which was unacceptable, and a lot of their methods were old-fashioned. The job, as management described it, involved high expectations for low pay with bad tools. It might be an okay starting job if you're trying to get into insurance right after school, but don't plan on staying long.
- What is your preferred Xactimate code?
- Do you have any more serious questions for me?
