Product Specialist
I applied for the Product Specialist I role and the hiring manager reached out the next day. Instead of an interview, they sent a take-home assignment with 11 questions, designed to assess my thinking process. It included a link to their knowledge base, with 4 mandatory questions and others strongly recommended. A short video from the hiring manager offered tips, emphasizing that answers could be found in the knowledge base, and highlighted the team's supportive nature and their value for correct grammar, empathy, and accurate answers. No timeline or expected duration was provided for the assignment. I decided not to proceed, as this felt like an extensive and detailed exercise, differing from typical pre-interview take-home tasks which usually follow initial conversations about salary and fit. This length and detail raised a concern about potential lack of training and an expectation for self-directed problem-solving, which is a red flag for me in a support role.
- Can you explain your thought process in detail?
- What is your approach to problem-solving?
- How do you analyze and interpret information?
Product Specialist
I got to the virtual interviews before getting a rejection email. The initial take home assignment is a lot (10+ writing assignments) but I do think it’s a good way to see how well you'd do at the job (maybe 2-3 writing assignments could give a similar impression though). After I submitted the take home assignment, I had an initial Zoom call with a team lead, followed by 4 other separate Zoom calls over two days. Overall, it was a long, time-consuming process just to not move forward in the end lol. The questions weren’t hard or very technical, so just be yourself, talk about any tech experience you have, and I’m sure you’ll do fine.
- Can you share an instance where you received constructive criticism?
- Imagine you need to explain Netflix to someone unfamiliar with technology. How would you do it?
- Describe the color purple to someone who is blind.
Product Specialist
This whole interview process lasted about 3 weeks, and I had roughly 4 rounds of interviews. Everyone I talked to was super nice and really clear about the job and what the next steps were going to be.
- Can you tell me about a time something went wrong and how you fixed it?
- What do you think we can do to help you be successful in this role?
