First, you need to fill out an application on HandShake. After that, there's an online interview where you'll answer some questions. If you get accepted, you'll have to do a live scan on campus. Then you'll start working at the desk or in the back and get familiar with the system.

It was a really easy interview process, felt like I had the job in the bag right away. Just had to be friendly, outgoing, and show I knew my stuff, and it was a pretty simple path to getting hired. However, keep in mind that the College of Business and Economics is really focused on budgets and doesn't tend to hire people permanently.

I applied for the Information Technology Consultant role on the Cal State LA website. After about a month, they contacted me to set up a Zoom interview, and I got to pick a time that worked for me. The interview was a group setting with myself and six other people. Each person asked two questions, making it a total of 12 questions, with the last one being an opportunity for me to ask them questions. They typed the questions in the Zoom chat, which was helpful for clarity, especially if there were accent difficulties. Questions covered MS Office, stress management, work prioritization, and handling diverse personalities and cultural differences.
