Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Caffè Nero.
Barista
I had a one on one chat with the manager, it was pretty chill. We talked about my experience and when I'm available to work. They asked me about myself and how I'd feel working in a busy place. Also asked about stress.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What experience do you have?
- What is your availability?
Barista
It was a pleasant experience. The manager asked me some questions, but mostly we had a casual chat about the work environment. As I was a student, she was willing to make reasonable accommodations for my studies, provided I gave sufficient advance notice about my availability.
- Can you handle working in a team within a fast-paced setting?
Barista
The interview was pretty chill and informal. The person interviewing me looked over my CV and asked some questions about it. The interview itself was nothing special, but I'll never forget it because midway through, the interviewer made an antisemitic remark, laughed, and then told me they only give their staff a ten-minute break during an 8-hour shift. Good thing I didn't get the job.
- Can you tell me a little about yourself?
- Describe a time when you delivered excellent customer service.
- What would you say is your greatest accomplishment?
