First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cafe Yumm.
Assistant Manager
We conducted open interviews at one of the two Vancouver locations. Store managers were there for walk-in interviews. The interview times were between 1-4:30 PM and the interview lasted about 30 minutes. It was a pleasant interview that helped me get back into the swing of explaining my strengths and value to a decision-maker.
- Do you have open availability?
Crew Member
It was a really quick and simple interview process, and everyone was so nice. It didn't last as long as I expected, and I got a job offer right then and there. I really liked the people I met, they seemed really sincere and kind. I'd totally suggest this place for a good job opportunity. It's a local business with amazing people.
- What makes you want to join our team?
Crew Member
I interviewed at the Beaverton location. The owner was very dull and unappealing. I couldn't understand why he wouldn't smile. I get that you're interviewing, but you should make potential employees feel like they belong. I didn't feel like he liked me from the start. He seemed to have his own opinion and I don't think I got to be myself. If I leave a job for school, I shouldn't be patronized for pursuing my education. If I leave a job because I hate it and don't want to be miserable, it's none of your business to judge. My family is more important than anything on this earth, and if you can't grasp that, you're a flawed human.
- Can you describe your previous food service experience?
Crew Member
It was mostly questions about my availability and my resume. They also asked how many hours I wanted to work. It was a one on one interview and they gave me info on scheduling and hours. We also talked about training and the onboarding process.
- What's your desired weekly hour commitment?
