First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cadence Design Systems.
Product Marketing Manager
I applied via LinkedIn and the HR business partner reached out. The interview process involved speaking with the HR partner, the hiring manager, and several team members, including management. They asked challenging questions, but everyone was professional. Some days were long interview marathons, but I understood why given the hire they were looking for. The negotiation was professional and fair. The interview process overall was great. The only snag was the security background check after I accepted. The online form didn't specify the required number of years for work verification. Cadence needs 7 years, which is unusual. I didn't put enough info in the form initially, so Cadence security contacted me for 7 years of work experience verification. The person was not very helpful in suggesting alternative documentation, and Cadence security won't contact previous employers' HR even with their contact info. So, be ready to find old W2s or make sure to input at least 7 years of prior work experience when filling out the background check form online. Other than that one issue, the rest of the process and onboarding went smoothly.
- What changes would you propose to the existing marketing strategy to boost company awareness?
Product Marketing Manager
After submitting my application, I had two phone conversations. The first was with someone on my future team, and the second was with the head of the department. They mostly asked me questions about my personal background and past experiences. For instance, they asked me to share a bit about myself and which tech products I like the most. There were also some questions checking my basic understanding of the industry, like explaining the distinction between hardware and software. Everyone I spoke with was really pleasant, and I genuinely enjoyed our discussions.
- Can you tell us about your background?
Product Marketing
We had a 40-minute phone chat first. Then, I was invited back for a 3.5-hour on-site interview. This included a 30-minute presentation that I could choose the topic for, followed by three 1-hour panel interviews. The panel had 3 managers and several marketing staff members.
- Could you tell me what you know about PCB design and Cadence's software suite, particularly Allegro, OrCad, and Sigrity?
