First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cadence Design Systems.
Design Verification Engineer
It was an on-campus placement. Resumes were shortlisted, and then an interview was scheduled directly after that – no written test involved. There were two rounds, each lasting an hour. Both rounds were technical and focused heavily on SystemVerilog and verification topics.
- Can you provide a detailed explanation of your project?
Validation Engineer
The whole interview process took about 4 weeks. It started with a phone call for screening. Then, there were panel interviews on the first day, with around 4 rounds. Three of these were technical, and one was with HR. The interviewers were very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me. After that, I was called back for two more rounds, which included technical, behavioral, and process-oriented questions.
- Could you discuss your current work profile?
- Can you explain the testing methodologies employed at your present organization?
- What are your technical skills and knowledge?
Verification Engineer
This interview was for a Verification Engineer role in Pune, specifically for the Tensilica group. The face-to-face interview didn't feel like it was with Cadence. In the first round, the interviewer asked about my past projects and the work I'd done, along with some basic questions, and gave hints when I got stuck. The second interviewer was quite rude and uninterested, even stepping out during the interview. The questions were simple, involving swapping and many arithmetic operations. They wanted the same task done in C or another way, possibly related to their work or a specific approach they were looking for, but his unprofessional behavior and communication made me reconsider working in that culture and avoid the questions.
- Can you demonstrate swapping in SystemVerilog?
- How would you perform swapping in C?
- Could you show swapping using another method?
