First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cadence Design Systems.
Intern
I went through interviews for two different teams. The first team was heavily focused on Java and object-oriented programming (OOP) in Java, and they wanted me to design systems using OOP principles. The second team covered all the computer science fundamentals like OOP, computer networking (CN), operating systems (OS), and also asked medium-level data structures and algorithms (DSA) questions. Their focus was on C, C++, and Python, not Java.

- Design systems leveraging OOP concepts
Design Verification Intern
The interview process has about 3 to 4 rounds. First up is a multiple-choice test covering digital electronics, Verilog, aptitude, and C programming. After that, there are two technical interviews and one HR interview. The interviews will dig into Verilog, SystemVerilog, C programming, digital electronics, memory design, UVM, and OOPS concepts, among other things.
- Can you explain the design of a synchronous FIFO, perhaps related to your project?
- Tell me about memory design.
- Do you have any questions about C programming?
Intern
