Leasing and Marketing Manager
This interview was super uncomfortable. Two managers ran it and they seemed really cold and uninterested. They didn't ask any deep questions, and their whole vibe made me feel really awkward. They mainly just wanted my ideas on how to market their place and get more students involved, that's it. They never asked about my past experience, skills, achievements, or impact. It felt like they were just collecting marketing ideas from candidates, which makes sense because the job listing gets reposted every month. Big red flags, glad I didn't waste too much time on it.

Analyst
The technical part of the interview was tough enough to really check my skills, but not too much. It seems they really care about strong basics in the technical stuff, but also how adaptable you are and if you want to learn. So, it felt more like a chat where I could show what I know and also my interest in contributing and growing. What was cool was how much the interviewers wanted to get to know me as a future teammate. We talked about more than just the job, like industry trends and what the company is aiming for. It felt collaborative and like we were both learning. On the difficulty scale, it was just right, not too easy, not too hard. I felt tested but could also show off my skills well.
- Could you walk me through the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process, specifically as it relates to data engineering?
Executive Assistant
This was the worst interview experience I've had. The COO initially forgot about my first in-person interview, rescheduling it an hour before. To compensate, they had me meet with an EA, who had no specific questions and spent the hour getting to know me and talking about her daughter. A red flag was that everyone I met had been hired within the last six months, which they attributed to internal promotions but seemed concerning. The rescheduled interview also started late because the interviewer went for a drink with a coworker. The interview took place in a glass box with the door open, lacking structure as the interviewer thought of questions on the fly without notes. A current employee interrupted the interview for ten minutes, and I had to introduce myself. This employee also left mid-answer without warning. The interviewer repeatedly checked his phone during my responses. The person I would report to didn't even introduce themselves. When I asked the interviewer questions, he was condescending, giving a basic explanation for their intranet. Overall, it was a terrible experience, and I wouldn't accept an offer from such a company, despite the recruiter and EA being pleasant. The people in the corporate office were rude and off-putting.
- Can you tell me about a time you had a great boss?
Human Resources Manager
It was honestly the best interview I've had in years. Jennifer J. interviewed me. I was not offered a second interview because I had not managed the amount of employees they were looking for. However I really appreciated the interviewer's transparency and kindness. She was also bold to help point some improvements I could make to my resume due to the extensive experience I hold in HR. This opportunity was not in the cards for me, but the interview/interviewer was refreshing in today's day and age.
