I had an interview with a hiring manager who seemed quite cold. They asked me about my grades and SAT scores. Then, I was told I'd have to take a part of the SAT as part of the interview. I was then taken away for a 30-minute SAT test. After the test, I returned to the hiring manager to finish the interview. Someone came in during the interview and gave the manager a note saying I passed the test. I was then offered the job.

The interview process is pretty straightforward. They'll chat with you for a bit about your background and what subjects you feel confident teaching. Then, you'll need to take a practice SAT or ACT test to show you know your stuff; this is the main part of the hiring process. If you get a really good score on that, you're pretty much in.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Can you tell me which subjects you're qualified to teach and about your previous teaching experience?
  • What subjects are you able to teach?
  • What's your experience teaching?

I didn't fill out an application. A center director reached out after seeing my resume online. We had a quick chat to see if we should move forward. She invited me in the next week, asking me to confirm the day before. I went in, met with the director, and had a chat that was more like a two-way street. She learned about my skills and what I was looking for, and I found out about the school, hours, expectations, and pay. My W4 was almost ready, so I just added my personal details and began training the following week.
